PROFILE

SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Sikder Zulkernine completed his Bachelor's (Hons.) and Master's in Archaeology from Jahangirnagar University, Saver, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He has subsequently accomplished two years of research Master's program in Archaeology and Ancient History of India from M S University of Baroda, Gujarat, India from 2004 through 2006 under the ICCR Scholarship. After that, he also completed two years Master Degree in International Museum Studies at Goteborg University in Sweden.

Before joining the Department of Archaeology at Jahangirnagar University as a Lecturer in 2009, he has also served as an intern for the development work of the Exhibition on Bangladesh Archaeology at Musee Guimet in Paris, France in 2007. He has also served as an intern with the Education Department at the Freer Gallery of Art and the Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, Smithsonian Institution in Washington DC in 2009. He has returned to Washington DC in 2013 as a Research Scholar to work with the Smithsonian Office of Policy and Analysis to learn new techniques for evaluating the effectiveness of exhibitions and education programs.

Later, He has promoted an Assistant Professor at the Department of Archaeology at Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2011 where he is still having a permanent faculty position as Associate Professor since 2014. He has been offering various courses at this University such as Principle and History of Archaeology, Practical Museum and Archaeo-Chemistry, Introduction to Museum Studies, and Survey Methods for Archaeology for the Undergraduate and Graduate students.

He was worked as a research fellow at the Department of Visual Studies at Lingnan University in Hong Kong from 1st January 2019. In that time, he has assisted and conducted two courses in 2019 and 2020 on “Understanding Museums” and “Global Encounter with Chinese Art” as a tutor at the Department of Visual Studies at Lingnan University in Hong Kong. At the time of COVID 19 Pandemic, he has returned to Jahangirnagar University and started his service again as an Associate Professor at the Department of Archaeology.
