PROFILE

SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Mr Sahadat Hossain, a public health academician and researcher, completed his Master of Science (MS), GPA 3.83 out of 4.00 (1st position), and Bachelor of Science (BSc), CGPA 3.75 out of 4.00, in Public Health and Informatics from Jahangirnagar University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is currently doing his PhD in Behavioural Science and Health at University College London (UCL), London, the United Kingdom, with a Commonwealth Scholarship. His PhD is focused on developing and evaluating a brief intervention to prevent tobacco initiation and promote mental health and well-being. He did his MS thesis on “Impacts of Socio-cultural Environment on Lifestyle and Physical-psychological Health of the Students of the Only Fully Residential University in Bangladesh: A Follow-up Study” with the National Science and Technology (NST) fellowship. Additionally, he completed two research projects as the principal investigator and co-principal investigator entitled “Adoption of Tobacco Retail License in Bangladesh: Exploring Possible Outcomes and Implementation Challenges” and "Ban on Tobacco Advertising, Promotion and Sponsorship in Bangladesh: Investigating Compliance Level and Implementation Challenges" respectively with the fellowship of the IGTC, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, USA. Furthermore, he has published more than fifty research articles in international peer-reviewed journals. Along with these, he is also involved in leadership activities and was the 11th President of Jahangirnagar University Science Club (JUSC). As a Young Scientist, Mr Sahadat participated in the 72nd Lindau Nobel Laureate Meeting dedicated to Physiology/Medicine, where he met 38 Nobel Laureates and more than 600 Young Scientists from all over the world to engage in fruitful discussions and inspiring encounters. He is an alumnus of the Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings. He aims to build up a dedicated, honest, and efficient career in public health academia and research to serve humanity.

Mr Sahadat Hossain's areas of interest include Behavioural Science and Health, Addiction and Tobacco Control, Psychological Well-being, Sedentary Lifestyle and Large-scale Epidemiological Research.
