PROFILE
SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Risala Tasin Khan is a Professor and Director at the Institute of Information Technology (IIT), Jahangirnagar University, where she has been serving since 2009. Dr. Khan earned both her B.Sc. (2003) and M.Sc. (2005) degrees in Computer Science and Engineering from Jahangirnagar University. She completed her Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the same institution in 2019, with her doctoral research focusing on the performance evaluation of Cognitive Radio Networks (CRN) over fading channels using space diversity techniques.
Before joining Jahangirnagar University, she served as a Lecturer in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Daffodil International University from 2005 to 2009.
Dr. Khan’s research interests encompass a broad range of topics in computer networking, wireless communication, and cybersecurity. Her work has primarily focused on enhancing the performance of cognitive radio networks through efficient detection of secondary users in sensing zones. She has also studied the influence of traffic arrival patterns on network performance using various statistical models. Her recent research explores resource allocation in wireless networks using machine learning, IoT security, and the confidentiality aspects of blockchain technology.
She has authored over 30 peer-reviewed publications in journals and conference proceedings and has supervised more than 70 undergraduate and graduate students in the field of wireless communication and related areas.
Dr. Khan is a Senior Member of IEEE and has actively contributed to IEEE activities. She previously served as the Counselor of the IEEE Women in Engineering (WIE) Affinity Group at Jahangirnagar University Student Branch, and as an Executive Committee (EXCOM) member of the IEEE Computer Society Bangladesh Chapter.
