PROFILE

SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Taslin Jahan Mou holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc) with First class second position and a Master of Science (MS) with First class First position in Microbiology from Jahangirnagar University. She began her academic career as a Lecturer at Gono University and later at Jagannath University, before joining Jahangirnagar University in 2014.   During her MS thesis, she worked on “Arsenite resistant and oxidizing bacteria from Arsenic contaminated soil and groundwater of Bangladesh ”. Throughout her teaching career, she has successfully supervised Seven Master's thesis and three undergraduate research project students. She has conducted several projects funded by Jahangirnagar University and University Grant Commission, Bangladesh. These projects were based on heavy metal and antibiotic resistance among bacterial isolates from Environmental sources in Bangladesh.   She has 20 published research articles in different international peer-reviewed journals.

Currently, she is pursuing her PhD at the University of Edinburgh, UK, fully funded by the Commonwealth Scholarship. Her PhD research is focused on bacteria-based recycling of E-waste and Plastic waste employing synthetic biology approaches.

RESEARCH INTEREST

Bacteria-based recycling of waste,  Synthetic Biology, Sustainable Biotechnology,  Metal and Antibiotic Resistance in the Environment
