A deep ecologist with a keen interest in political philosophy and applied ethics Professor Talukder joined the philosophy department in 2000. He is considered by many a pioneering geo-cultural identity thinker. He was born in Jhalokathi District in Bangladesh. He obtained First Division both in his Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations, participated from Model High School, Dhaka and Government Science College, Dhaka, respectively. He enrolled Bachelor Honours Programme in Philosophy at Jahangirnagar University in the 1992 to 1993 session, eventually graduating with first class in 1995. Then, in 1996, the M.U. Ahmed Gold Medal was conferred to him for securing first position in first class in his Masters degree examination. After that he obtained an MPhil degree in Philosophy from Jahangirnagar University in 2005. He then went on to complete a double degree Masters in Applied Ethics with specialization in bioethics from Linköping University, Sweden and Utrecht University, the Netherlands under the prestigious Erasmus Mundus Scholarship of the European Commission. Finally, he enrolled in the PhD programme at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Singapore under a full research scholarship and successfully graduated in 2013, having in these four years researched extensively, critically and conclusively on Comparative Environmental Philosophy and Ethics. He then returned to Bangladesh and was soon promoted as a Professor in the Department of Philosophy at Jahangirnagar University in May 2015. His research works have been published from various countries in the world including the United States of America, Singapore, Hungary, Croatia, Slovenia, Italy, Romania, Slovakia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Thailand and Malaysia and some of them have also been translated into foreign languages, including Italian. Furthermore, his book Nature and Life: Essays on Deep Ecology and Applied Ethics has recently been published from Cambridge Scholars Publishing, the United Kingdom in July 2018. Professor Talukder has been serving as an editorial board member, reviewer in various national and international academic journals and examiner of PhD theses in many universities globally. He also served as an IRB/IEC ethicist and invited visiting faculty in notable institutions. His academic achievements are as follows:
