SHORT BIOGRAPHY

·     Profesor Dr. Md. Khabir Uddin is a renowned Environmental Scientist. He was born in 1964 in his parental home Singair, Manikganj. He has been working in the Department of Environmental Sciences, Jahangirnagar University, Bangladesh since 2000. Before that he had been working in Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission from 1993 to 2000. He did his JSPS (Japan Society for the Promotion of Science) postdoctoral fellowship from 2001 to 2004. He obtained Ph. D degree in Environmental Science from Hokkaido University, Japan in 1999, B. Sc (Hons) and M. Sc. from Jahangirnagar University in Chemistry. His research interest revolves around waste to energy, wastewater treatment, and pollution remediation. He has more than hundred publications in reputed journals in home and abroad, and presented many articles in national and international workshops and seminars. He is also a popular article writer. He has supervised research work nearly 60 MS and 6 Ph. D students. He was also a visiting professor of The University of Shiga Prefecture, Japan and adjunct faculty member of many private and public universities in Bangladesh. He has collaboration with Hokkaido University, Toyama University and The University of Shiga Prefecture, Japan. He is a founder President of Bangladesh Society of Environmental Scientists (BSES). He is a founder General Secretary of Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) Alumni Association in Bangladesh and served as a Cultural Secretary for Japan University Alumni Association of Bangladesh (JUAAB) from 2007 to 2010. He served as project director of many national and international projects. He is a convener of Jahangirnagar University community based waste management which is the first model house hold waste management plant in Bangladesh. This model plant might be implemented at every small and large community in Bangladesh. Another model, a comprehensive wastewater treatment plant is established in Jahangirnagar University campus from his significant research output which was inaugurated on 14 February 2015 by the Chairman of UGC.  This work is also an inevitable task for the nation at present time. He has experienced to hold of many administrative posts in Jahangirnagar University. He also involves many social works in Bangladesh. Dr. Khabir Uddin has been awarded National Environmental Award 2014 in June 5, 2014 and Honorable Prime Minister, The people’s Republic of Bangladesh handed over this prestigious award on 5 June, 2014 at International Environmental Day for environmental protection and pollution control (Personal).
