PROFILE
SHORT BIOGRAPHY
Farhana Rahman is currently serving as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Biological Sciences, Jahangirnagar University (JU), where she is actively engaged in teaching and research in the fields of Mycology, Plant Pathology, and Mushroom Sciences within the Department of Botany. Her dedication to biological sciences and academic excellence has marked her as a rising scholar in her discipline.
Farhana's academic journey began in Laxmipur, where she completed her Secondary School Certificate (SSC) from Laxmipur Government Girls' High School. She then moved to Dhaka and earned her Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) from Lalmatia Girls' College. Pursuing her passion for plant sciences, she completed both her Bachelor of Science (Honours) and Master of Science degrees in Botany from Jahangirnagar University, with a focus on Mycology and Plant Pathology for her M.Sc. thesis.
Immediately after completing her postgraduate studies, Farhana joined NGO Forum-one of the largest EU-supported organizations in the development sector of Bangladesh-as a Research Officer. During this time, she also pursued an additional Master’s degree in Public Health (MPH) from the State University in Dhaka, enhancing her interdisciplinary expertise.
Furthering her academic credentials, Farhana earned a Ph.D. in Plant Pathology, which solidified her research foundation and academic standing. She began her teaching career as a Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Science at the State University of Bangladesh, where she served for four years. She then continued her academic career at Daffodil International University, also as a Lecturer in the Department of Environmental Science and Disaster Management, contributing another four years of service and academic output.
Throughout her academic and professional career, Farhana Rahman has authored numerous national and international publications in peer-reviewed journals, reflecting her dedication to impactful scientific research. She has actively participated in numerous conferences and symposiums, both at home and abroad, where she presented her research findings. Her work and dedication have been recognized at the international level, as she was twice awarded the Best Young Researcher Award at the Asia Pacific Academic Conference—first in Bali, Indonesia (2010) and again in Seoul, South Korea (2011).
Today, as a faculty member of Biological Science at Jahangirnagar University, Farhana Rahman continues to inspire students and contribute to scientific advancement through her research, teaching, and academic leadership. Her unwavering commitment to knowledge, innovation, and collaboration reflects her passion for excellence in the fields she serves.
