PROFILE

SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Professor Abeda Sultana is a distinguished mathematician with more than 25 years of academic and research experience in Pure and Fuzzy Mathematics. She earned her B.Sc. (Honours) and M.Sc. degrees in Mathematics from Jahangirnagar University, where she later completed her Ph.D. in 2010 with a dissertation on Semigroups and Fuzzy Semigroups.

Her teaching and research contributions span across diverse areas, including abstract algebra, real analysis, general topology, fuzzy mathematics, and semigroups. Professor Sultana has published extensively in reputed national and international journals, with notable works in fuzzy set theory, semirings, and their applications in computational mathematics, decision-making, and applied sciences.

She has served in several important academic and administrative roles, including Chairperson of the Department of Mathematics at Jahangirnagar University (2019–2022), Executive Member of the Bangladesh Mathematical Society (2022–2023), and Executive Member of the Jahangirnagar University Teachers’ Association (2015). Currently, she is an elected Senate Member of Jahangirnagar University.

Beyond her home institution, Professor Sultana has contributed as a member of the Editorial Board of the Jahangirnagar University Journal of Science and represented Bangladesh internationally as the head of the academic delegation to the 12th International Scientific Olympiad (Mathematics) in Iran. She has also delivered lectures at several other universities across Bangladesh, including Moulana Bhashani University of Science and Technology, City University, Bangladesh University of Business and Technology, and the International Islamic University Chittagong (Dhaka Campus).

Her lifelong dedication to teaching, research, and academic leadership continues to inspire future generations of mathematicians in Bangladesh and beyond.
