Being the incumbent chairman, I have the privilege to welcome you all concerned to the department of Zoology, JU. The department is renowned for its innovative and applied approaches and diverse branches which enabled it to establish three field laboratory stations, viz. wild life rescue center (WRC), Insect rearing and research center (IRES) supported by DNA barcoding lab and a fish hatchery complex and these ventures have propelled the department to the forefront of animal science education rankings at home and abroad. The department’s zoological research attainments have been coupled with annual bird and butterfly fairs on a regular basis which have made it a vibrant hub of academic excellence and top destinations for bioscience students. The team spirit, dedication and unwavering support of highly qualified teaching professionals of the department have been a beacon of hope for countless students in life science discipline across the four corners of the country. I unequivocally feel honored to lead such an iconic department having name and fame for its commitment to excellence in teaching and research to fostering an environment that nurtures academic curiosity, inquisitive minds, innovation and holistic development.
