As a dedicated educator, Mondol has experience as a Teaching Associate at Monash University, where he taught courses such as GIS for Environmental Science, Geographical Information Systems and Remote Sensing, and Environmental Earth Science. His expertise extends to various aspects of geography, including hydro-climatology, drought analysis, and water resource management.
Mondol's research interests revolve around drought analysis, climate variability, and climate change adaptation. His publications cover a wide range of topics, including spatiotemporal drought analysis in Bangladesh, the concept of technological drought, and the impact of irrigation on rice production. His work has appeared in reputable journals such as Scientific Reports, Journal of Environmental Management, and Agricultural Water Management.
In addition to his professional contributions, Mondol has been actively involved in volunteer work. He served as the President of the Bangladesh Students Association of Monash University and held advisory roles in the Jahangirnagar University Career Club and Rangpur District Students Association of Jahangirnagar University.
Throughout his academic journey, Mondol has received numerous awards and scholarships, including the Postgraduate Publication (PPA) Award and the Publication Recognition Award from Monash University. He was also the recipient of the Faculty of Science International Postgraduate Research Scholarship at Monash University and the Bangabandhu Science and Technology Fellowship from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Bangladesh. Furthermore, his academic excellence was acknowledged through the Jahangirnagar University Merit Scholarship and the Junior School Scholarship from Madarganj BL High School.
Mondol has been involved in several research projects funded by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh and Jahangirnagar University. He has also supervised undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, guiding students in their exploration of topics such as climatic variability, drought, water scarcity and the impact of climate change on agriculture.
As a recognized expert in his field, Mondol has actively contributed to the academic community by presenting his research at conferences and serving as a reviewer for various scientific journals, including Agricultural Water Management, Theoretical and Applied Climatology, Advances in Meteorology, Natural Hazards, and Sustainability.
With his extensive research experience and dedication to teaching, Dr Mondol continues to make significant contributions to the field of geography and environment.
