PROFILE

SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Muhammad Rezaul Rakib is an Associate Professor of Geography and Environment at Jahangirnagar University. He pursued further studies in the United Kingdom and obtained a second Master's Degree in Flood Risk Management from the University of Hull with Vice-Chancellor's Circle (VCC) Scholarships in 2022.

He has been actively involved in the research sector for nearly ten years and has provided consultancy to various national bodies, including the Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), the Department of Environment (DoE), and the University Grants Commission (UGC).

His key research focuses on flood vulnerability assessment, river bank erosion, climate change impact, water quality, and food security. He also has expertise in utilizing HEC-RAS, GIS, R, and SPSS. He completed map work on the “Wari-Bateswer Excavation Project” and “Old Dhaka City Excavation Project” under the supervision of Professor Dr. Sufi Mustafizur Rahman, and Social, Risk, and Resource Mapping.

He also holds several external roles, including Office Secretary of the Bangladesh National Geographical Association (BNGA), Member of Oitihya Onneswan (Archaeological Research Center), Executive member of the Teacher Association of Jahangirnagar University (JUTA) 2023, and Senate Member of JU.
