Mohammad Nazmul Islam, Tasnima Aziza, Pedagogy in Higher Education During the Covid-19 Pandemic: A Review, The Jahangirnagar Review, 46, 1, pp.137-153, 2022.
To reduce the learning loss caused due to the COVID-19 pandemic, educational institutes of all levels have shifted to online teaching-learning mode on an emergency basis. This unplanned, rapid transition has created different challenges for all the stakeholders. This review paper highlights the pedagogy challenges and experiences considering two novel practices for university teachers: teaching using digital platforms and Teaching from Home (TFH). To accomplish this purpose, the researchers have reviewed pertinent literature during the pandemic and dealt with the pedagogy of the university teachers of different countries. Adopting virtual education has been hurdled by poor infrastructure, lack of preparedness, low motivation, absence of student interaction, and the teachers' mental stress. On the other hand, TFH has affected the university teachers' work-life balance, work environment, and physical and psychological health. The findings can help the teachers teach more efficiently by intervening in the problems. The study will also provide insights to the policymakers to utilize the opportunities this virtual education and TFH has created and make preparations for future crisis management.

Though COVID-19 has affected all sectors, the effect varies from industry to industry, and so does their employment condition. Layoff, retrenchment, salary cut, upskilling, and reskilling for new work conditions made the work environment agile. Through a qualitative research approach, this chapter investigated employees' career challenges to maintain a sustainable career in the education, telecom, retail, restaurant, and fintech industries. The information was collected through the in-depth interviews (IDI) method with the employees across five industries. The findings of the investigation reflected that transition from offline to the online platform was common which required new skill acquisition and execution in the job to survive in the agile environment. Adaptability with technology, self-development with skill acquisition in digital mode, regular participation in training, innovation, and so on may help employees across the industry to make their career sustainable in an agile environment.
Mohammad Nazmul Islam, Tasnima Aziza, Work From Home Experience of University Teachers During the COVID-19 Pandemic: A Qualitative Overview, doi: http://dx.doi.org/10.4018/978-1-7998-9164-2.ch009COVID-19 has enforced work from home (WFH) in all sectors to continue their operations; university education is no exception. Bangladesh's public and private universities have to adopt online teaching to reduce academic loss. As teaching from home (TFH) is a new work arrangement for teachers, this chapter explores their experiences. Different challenges regarding teaching and research activities, work-life balance, financial condition, and physical and mental state have been identified from in-depth interviews with 30 teachers from both types of universities. Some positive experiences have also been found, which indicates that the effect of TFH depends on variables like age, gender, marital status, number of dependents, and the type of university. The findings of this study provide a lens to look at the prospect of TFH for future use.
