PROFILE

SHORT BIOGRAPHY

 

 

 

Dr. Emran Jahan was born in 1962. He obtained his Bachelor of Arts and MA degree in Islamic History and Culture from the University of Dhaka. He was awarded PhD. degree on "Liberation War of Bangladesh and Press 1947-71" from Jahangirnagar University. He is a professor in the department of History at Jahangirnagar University in Dhaka. Dr. Jahan is known as a committed researcher and has attended numerous local and international conferences and seminars and contributed learned research papers. His published books are "Liberation War of Bangladesh and Role of the Press (1947-1971)," "History of Modern Europe (1789-1945)", "History of Bangladesh:1972-2016", "History of Medieval Bengal". Beside, he has also edited "A.K. Fazlul Huq and Muslim League in Bengal:1906-1947". He is currently engaged in a research project on "The Independence War of Bangladesh and Role of US and UK Press" under the Social Science Research Council, Planning Ministry, Government of Bangladesh. He is also an adjuct faculty member of Social Relations Department in East West University and teaches "Emergence of Bangladesh". Dr. Emran Jahan is the life member of Bangla Academy, Bangladesh Asiatic society, Itihash Academy and Bangladesh Itihash Parishad. He is also presidium member of the Bangladesh History Olympiad.
