PROFILE

SHORT BIOGRAPHY

Md. Atiqur Rahman joined Jahangirnagar University in 2015 as a lecturer and currently holds the position of Associate Professor. He is interested in both qualitative and quantitative research in the field of auditing, corporate governance, and corporate finance. His recent studies however rely more on quantitative econometric analyses. His reserach contributions appeared in prominent international journals like International Journal of Managerial and Financial Accounting, Global Business and Economics Review, Financial Studies, Asian Journal of Accounting Research, The Indonesian Journal of Accounting Research to name a few. He is also working as a principal investigator of a project funded by the University Grants Commission, Bangladesh. 

He completed Master's in Science with major in Finance from the University of Strathclyde, UK and has been recognized for best overall performance in finance from Strathclyde, one of the global top schools of finance. He achieved the prestigious Commonwealth Scholarship through an international open competition in 2020 to pursue the MSc. Atiqur accomplished MBA and BBA in Accounting & Information Systems from the University of Dhaka before joining Jahangirnagar University as a lecturer in 2015.  For academic excellence, he was awarded four awards (Dean's Honor Award and Dean's Merit Award in both BBA and MBA) from the University of Dhaka.

This project, funded by the University Grants Commission of Bangladesh, being the pioneer in the field and based on a global dataset, attempts to investigate impact of women empowerment in firms, loan collateralization, firm maturity, external audit in economies, sales growth, accounting disclosure, and governance on NPL in an economy. I also aim to assess the relevance of the findings for the policymaking in Bangladesh through expert interviews.
